Does anybody know if the two Auburn groups that did not make quota have pledged any extras yet?

There were three and 2 of the 3 immediately snapped to quota.

According to the list, Alpha Xi Delta pledged 35 and Pi Beta Phi pledged 50. Quota was 55. I imagine both groups have picked up some more by now.

*pats seat next to me* Okay, Bobby, Quota is one of two Important Words in sorority-dom (the other being Total). I'll try to keep this simple, but it's only a matter of time before someone adds more.

During Recruitment, after a certain party round (if there are 4-5 parties, it's usually the party prior before Preference), the number of PNMs is divided by the number of sororities on campus, and that magic number becomes Quota. Example: If, prior to this party, there are 500 PNMs left, and 10 sororities, Quota is 50 - or the maximum number of PNMs that a sorority can take. Each sorority can extend many more than 50 bids, but they can only take the top 50 women who are matched (the PNM wants them, and they want the PNM). There are some little exceptions (Quota Plus), but I'll leave that for the next woman to explain.

Total is the number of members that a sorority may have, but with a lot more exceptions. Let's say Total is 100, and ABC comes back in the fall with 99 members (unlikely, but...). ABC and every other sorority is still entitled to take Quota (the 50 we mentioned above), but then cannot recruit any new members for the rest of the year. Quota + Total = no more Recruitment.

But DEF came back in the fall with 30 members. They can take Quota, which brings them to 80 members, then 20 MORE members to reach Total. In that case, Quota + COB (continuous open bidding) = Total = no more Recruitment.

That's the short version. Hope it helps!

It's so sorority ABC doesn't create a monopoly over all the other sororities.

Thank you!!! My daddy used to tease me that I had lousy math grades, but could figure out Quota/Total like a pro. I think that's why he told people that I majored in sorority, minored in the IFC...

As for the double-names, my mama's name is Dixie Lee, and woe to the person who shortens that!

Auburn Numbers

OK, my Geeky self put this into excell and sorted it by group.
I DO NOT know what Quota was but I am assuming it was somewhere around 55 (or 55 as some here have stated) because all of the sororities took 54 new members except:

Alpha Xi Delta-35
Pi Beta Phi-50
ZTA-56
Delta Delta Delta-54

Now this is just information off that link that was posted off the website. It is possible that snap bids or what ever have occurred and numbers have changed.

And for what it's worth, that means that 839 PNM's were given a bid. How many went through? I could figure out percentages then too.

Edited because I had misread something. Edited again because I can't add either!
