Dropping as a Associate Member
I am an associate member of the fraternity. The fraternity is not what I envisioned it would be and I cannot see myself becoming a member. I want to drop and rerush a different house, but I am not sure if that is allowed. Another associate member mentioned that we were not allowed to rerush different fraternities if we dropped before we were initiated. He said we signed something before we became associates that stated we could not affiliate with with any other fraternity.
I have not been initiated yet and being an associate member is the equivalent of a pledge in other fraternities. Basically what I want to know is will I be allowed to rerush during the spring and become a member of another house even though I was an associate member.

You should contact the Greek life office. They'll know best about your campus policies. If you haven't been initiated, you are not banned from joining another fraternity, but your campus might have a waiting period between accepting bids.

Also, many fraternities will not pledge someone who has dropped a previous fraternity.

I doubt there's anything binding in anything you signed. No one is taking you to court because you rushed a different house. There may be local customs I'm not aware of, but you can pledge a fraternity and then pledge another, but you can't be initiated into more than one.

I am sad to see that you did not find Lambda Chi as a fit for you.
But not everyone fits into any and all GLOs.
Agree with Kevin 100%. Always gives sound adcice.
I hope you find the right fit for you, good luck!
