Last year, I made my boyfriend a Valentine's day present. I burned a CD of music that was special to us, or that somehow related to our relationship. Everything from Chicago to Jimmy Buffett to Jewel to Britney Spears. But instead of just giving him the CD with the title written on it in marker, I used a CD labeler kit to make a custom label for the CD. I made a collage of pictures of us over the past few years and stamped it on the CD. The kit comes with jewel case liners, so you can make a pretty professional looking project. He loved the CD

As for this year...I'm clueless so far!

probably only use this if your guy's sort of a smartass or whatever, but one year (in high school actually) the girl i was dating broke into my car and hung a really huge pair of panties from the rear-view mirror, and put "Big Ass" porno magazines all over the car - it was really funny, although it was basically public embarrassment for me (she attended another school so not too many people knew who she was). Later we went out and she gave me a real gift and stuff. A lot of guys aren't really looking for anything in particular - just something to show you care, something different, and this was a classic in that way. anyway

Here are some ideas:
My ex did this for me on our anniversary but you could do this for him (rather romantic though so if he's not into mushiness don't do it). Buy a nice looking bottle of wine from a place that doesn't sell the regular ole stuff you can buy at the stores. Find one that isn't completely covered with a label and then have it engraved with your names and the date and/or a special poem or nickname. I still have mine and even though we broke up I will keep it forever because it's so beautiful and the most unique thing a guy has ever done for me! (HINT HINT GUYS TOO)
I work in a jewelry store and this Christmas I recommended watches for men...but to add a more personal touch you could have the date and your initials engraved on the lid of the watch (that's memorable too).
A prepared dinner for him might also be nice, because I think too often they worry about what to spoil us with...they might be appreciative of the gesture. Just tell him before hand you've got the dinner arrangements planned!
If your man smokes you could buy him a couple expensive cigars. Or an engraved flask is another idea.
Or there's always buying yourself something nice from Victoria's Secret and seeing what he thinks about that LOL J/K!!!!
Good Luck !

I admit it -- I took the easy way out this year -- the LL Bean Fly Fishing catalog just came yesterday, so I had him circle everything he wanted (I wanted him to circle a lot so I could have a lot of choices). His birthday is the month after, so I'm ordering it all together and saving it for then. Granted - fly fishing is an EXPENSIVE hobby, but - he is not sappy and sentimental in the least, and I figure that while fleece lined jeans are not so romantic (even at $50!!), is better than something he'll sit on a shelf and forget about. At least he'll really use his gift.

Another thing that I have really gotten addicted to (Carnation can attest to this!) is pottery painting. There are a million different stores all over - they sell bisque pieces of pottery (from plain tiles to big huge pasta bowls) and you buy them and paint them with pictures, stamps, stencils, whatever. You have to pay by the hour for studio time, but here its only like $3 so that's pretty good. I'm probably going to paint him a small fish plate or something that he can use when he's grilling out.

I'm just praying that he'll get me a watch and not something slutty from Vicky's again -even he laughed at that last outfit -- he better get me 2 things since V-day will be 2 years since he proposed! You know I milk that for all its worth !

Cool! Happy birthday. I would make a note of it but I don't know when I registered.
