Interesting. I don't think I've ever heard Omicron pronounced with a long O sound at the beginning. I've always heard the initial O pronounced like the o it hot.

Trivia for the day:

Omicron and Omega literally mean "little (micro) O" and "big (mega) O."

Ha! I hear it pronounced Ohh-micron more frequently than anything else!

I made this video for the girls in my chapter. Did I share it on here before? I dunno, but this thread is a good place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByLl8Gok9o4

Everyone in my pledge classed loved this video:

even though almost every letter is mispronounced and the beat is terrible. It is catchy so beware.

Is that you, Lucy? We used a similar version, using a Jamaican/island beat, letting the series of letters higher for each set, but returning to the original pitch at the end. We also used the A-D-Pi (let me hear it now) 3X, each time singing higher, then Let's Go Greek 3X, also singing higher with each set.

We originally sang it like that for a Beach Theme party, and decided to keep it.

Cool!

FWIW, here's the greek alphabet song our chapters usually use.

Haha yep, that's me! I'm such a nerd. I made that after I came home from the formal pledging ceremony for new members. I put the words over my face so it's not quite as awkward.
