Omega Psi Phi Member Brutally Beats and Disowns Son for Pledging Phi Beta Sigma
I honestly have never heard anything like this before. A father beats and disowns his son for pledging the wrong fraternity. A father's bond with his son should be deeper than any bond with a fraternity. I am pretty sure there is more to the story. Ideally, i hope the story isn't true.

I would be skeptical about a story like this..."beat him black and Blue" but in my own experience as a Que a Brother in a previous grad chapter related that he sat his son down, who had expressed an interest in pledging Phi Beta Sigma, and told him point blank: "If you pledge Sigma, don't come home!" He was serious as a heart attack! The son is still not Greek to this day, but he has respect for Omega.

Out of curiosity: on the NPC side, we tell alumnae members never to say stuff like this, because it's entirely (very) possible the chapter won't want her. Are the legacy preferences stronger on the D9 side? I assume they are, but what if you tell your kid it's XYZ or nothing, and then XYZ doesn't want him?

My dad wanted me to be an Alpha like him. I told him I wanted to be a Nupe. His response was that he wasn't paying for the membership fees, unless I pledged Alpha. That summer, before school started, I worked a lot of hours so I could pay for it, because if I wasn't pledging Kappa, I wasn't pledging anything. Period. The end.
My brother pledged Kappa, too. We both went over in the same year, at two different chapters, two months apart. CSU and Meharry.
My dad was disappointed LOL.
