Frat members streak in popular ritual
MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Amid screaming college girls, about two dozen male students ran naked Tuesday through the University of the Philippines campus in a popular fraternity ritual.
The "Oblation Run," staged by Alpha P Omega during the anniversary of its founding, was inspired by the statue of a naked man symbolising freedom and installed prominently at the gateway to the state-run university, long a hotbed of leftist activism and liberal thought.
A large crowd of female students, screaming and giggling, shoved their way to get a good glimpse of the youths, their faces masked and bodies scribbled with graffiti, as they made their way from vans into a school building.
Some of the young women videotaped the event, but many looked away when the runners, handing out red roses, were close.
"I was surprised and shocked. Oh my gosh," said a South Korean student, who declined to give her name.
