I can't decide if the following makes me feel pleasantly nostalgic or really, really old:

How many 50-year-old songs (from the year 1919) do people remember hearing played in 1969?

And how is it I've heard so many 50-year-old songs from 1969 being played this year?

Recently in a small local candy store a 17-year-old high school student was playing the VINYL ALBUM of The Beatles 1969 release Abbey Road. The student mentioned his vinyl collection is rather extensive because there's a record store down the street from the candy shop.

His story reminded me Abbey Road was the very first album I ever bought with my own money.

With all of the crap going on in our current time, I am wondering if we are heading to another time of Hitler or Soillent Green?

We are becoming a Scary Movie tale. PC ness is rampant which is turning this Country on its ear or rear which ever comes to mind.

Mindless leadership with faulty decisions would be my first and only guess!

My one and only rant for the day!

It's good to get it off your chest Tom.

I am going to be an adjunct instructor at a community college this fall. I was given a key to my classroom and shown how to use the barricade device for the door to the classroom. That was my whole orientation.

A year ago, at my school in (San Francisco), there was an active shooter training for staff/instructors on learning how to use available items as weapons if they decide to fight back. It was not a mandatory event. Earlier this week, Cal State Fullerton happened. The buzz is there might be another training that would be mandatory.

My company builds online training for a very specific niche industry. Our #1 rated and completed course right now is active shooter and our #1 request is to translate it into as many languages as we can. While I feel fortunate to have a role in providing value to the industry, I sure as hell wish it wasn't this.

My company did mandatory active shooter training last year- before they laid off 25% of the staff.

Sadly, I'm guessing it was planned that way?

These mass shootings are a drop in the bucket compared to what’s to come. Things will get worse before they get better. This is the world we live in. None of this surprises me.

Note to self:

Do not attempt to drive in New Orleans when the Saints are playing a home game, especially if it's the first game of the season. It took me 1hr 20mins for what is normally a 20min drive, and I had to use all my Masshole skills.

In related news, it was one helluva game.
