LSU currently owns the vacant house I was referring to.
I had heard (secondhand, so it may not be true) that LSU was willing to donate the vacant house to the new sorority, just to encourage the colonization of a new sorority so this eyesore of a house could potentially get demolished and replaced with a new sorority house.
LSU is not willing to help in any way with financing the construction of the new house. That would be entirely up to the new sorority.

This plan sounds like the definition of "buying a pig in a poke." Especially with as many sororities as have closed there.

Yes - judging by IrishPipes info - LSU has been tough on several chapters in the past
While no one has closed since Sigma Kappa in the early 90s (pre-RFM), no one has really been successful starting a new chapter since oh, Kappa Alpha Theta in 1963. At about $2million (not including possible demolition costs) to look at a comparable house with no help from the university ? I could see why nationals would be squeemish. Any "players" in that area not already there? (or not already busy colonizing at U. Ark.?)

When this newsletter was published, there were 3 fraternities on sorority row, and 2 empty houses on sorority row. A fraternity moved into one vacant house after Christmas.

Yes, if the chapter plans on being on the same playing field as the present sororities there.

Geaux LSU.
I think that sounds like a pretty sweet deal, actually. Knowing you must have a house around that lake to compete... even a fixer-upper or heck, just the land is a good deal.
