Smile UCF Recommendations-Important?

Hey Greek Chatters! I am a UCF Knight who will be rushing as a sophomore next year. Did anyone rush UCF or know specifically how important rec. letters are there? Any help is MUCH appriciated. Thanks!

After meeting a few women from UCF last summer, I believe recs to be important for that campus. At least it cannot hurt to have them, especially if you believe yourself to be at a disadvantage as a sophomore.

If I remember correctly, there are a few UCF members/alumnae on GC. Recs should be considered a must, if you want a sporting chance at a bid.

Hey,
I tried to PM you but it says I can't....Here's what I said

Recs are always important at UCF - however not mandatory. I believe having them makes you stand out in a crowd of 1,000 girls. Especially since the chapters will have someone special to look out for.

As a sophomore you want to go in with your best foot forward - and that is having a rec. Some groups may even cut you as a sophomore - hard fact but true.

I would be more than willing to write a rec for you - I'd like to either meet you (on campus or what not, I still live nearby) or kind of chat back and forth to get to know you and get a better understanding of who you are as a person. Let me know what you think!

Good luck this Fall! I can't wait to hear about it!

I get the impression that recs at UCF are important to have. If you're a non-freshman, I'd suggest getting them for as many chapters as you can.

Ditto. To answer your questions via PM (I think you PM'd me... I got a bunch of PMs from UCF PNMs and accidentally deleted everything...)

UCF Panhellenic has a min. GPA required just to go through recruitment. Most of the actual chapters have a requirement above this GPA. If you have less than a 3.0, expect early heavy cuts.

As fast as average chapter dues, I'm not sure b/c I graduated so long ago! However, at recruitment, each sorority will take time during their events to go through the cost of dues, what they cover, etc.

Best of luck!

I, too, am in the same boat in needing recs, especially going in a a sophomore. I know it's such bad form to ask on GC, so I hope just asking for suggestions that are UCF specific won't look so bad. I like to be prepared early so I have already started looking for recs and have secured a few through family/ friend connections.

Thanks
