Can you please tell me a little bit more about what your position was all about (like what you did)? Thanks a lot!

I was what they call a barista at Starbuck's, which is the person that makes coffee, cleans up, etc. While I worked there, I grew a great appreciation for coffees and became a coffee snob http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I am still extremely particular about coffee, and only like to drink Starbuck's. In terms of working there, it's a lot of fun in the beginning, but like I said before it is a lot of work. Sometimes when I would work, I wouldn't get out until two hours after we had closed the store. At the end of the night, you have to clean everything and set things up for the morning crew.
It was my first real job, and I think it was a really good experience for me. I hope this helps.

Hi RedHotChiO! I was hoping that you could help me with this http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. I STILL have not finished the application--sadly, I'm very lazy lately LOL. Anyway, I'm hoping to send it in this weekend. Prob is--I can't work that much this summer, b/c I have a lot of other stuff to do, such as swimming, mentoring, going to the gym, SAT stuff, etc. So I think I can only work 4/5 hours a day. What do you think that that does to my application? Is it true that when they only see that I can only work 5 hours a day...that they will throw my application in the garbage??

Also, I'm very apprehensive about the interview process...I've only had 2 before (informal ones)...and I'm scared! Do you have any tips for me?

Oh, also, I was thinking about working the night shift, too (from 6-11). Is Starbucks closed at 11, or is it open till later (I never checked to find out)? Also, will they ask me to stay beyond 11 sometimes? (B/c the 'rents don't really like me working that late.) Sorry for so many questions!! Thank you for readign this!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Newbie, you're about 17 right. I don't know about California but I know in Colorado as a minor you're not allowed to work past 11p.m. It's under child labor laws or something.

During the summer you can work later. When I worked at Sea World our shifts didn't end till 12:45AM. If the minors couldn't close, I never would have been able to get a night off!
