Question Quick Question about letters of Rec

Hi again everyone. Sorry to keep bothering you all. I was looking at the threads on letters of rec, and I have a specific question, but I haven't found the answer I'm looking for, so maybe someone here will be able to help. I have a few friends who are in sororities and my question is: Would it be rude to ask them if they would be able to write me letters of Rec? Or should I wait to see if they offer to?

I don't think it would be rude to ask them. I've had people I know approach me to write recs, and I've never had a problem doing it

Are your friends collegians or alumnae of their sororities?

Some NPCs allow collegians to write letters of rec as long as it's not their particular chapter you're rushing. I'm thinking it's the same policy across the board for sororities who allow collegians to write recs.

Please do a better search, this topic HAS been discussed before.

As an alumna, how WELL should you know a PNM in order to write a RecForm/Sponsorship?

It's not rude to ask a friend to write a letter of recommendation. How else can you get one? Especially from someone who knows you well?

Some sororities only allow alums to write formal recs; others allow both active sisters and alums to write them. Even with a sorority that only allows alums to write them, a collegian may be able to write something informal and/or introduce you to an alum who can write a formal rec.

And the search button is your friend. Do a bit more digging - this has been discussed before.

It may not be so straight forward....to me, writing a rec is a bit like being a reference for a job seeker. And believe me, I have friends who I would not want to be a reference for; yes, I know them THAT WELL.

Sorry about that. I'll try a better search next time. But thanks for the advice everyone!
