"People just fall off balconies" (Washington State; Sigma Kappa)

Thank goodness the woman was not injured more seriously. The article serves as yet another reminder of the potential danger of over-celebrating on 21st birthdays.

"People just fall off balconies."

I probably shouldn't have laughed, but I did.

I hope for the sake of her maintaining some kind of dignity that the press never get hold of her name. Bad enough that you know that whole campus knows who fell, how much worse if the world knows?

The sad part is that *drunk* people do just fall off balconies... Thankfully the ones on apartment building at my school were too high to just fall over them, but the townhouse-style apartments definitely had their share of tipovers

Lovely that she managed to remain anonymous yet be ID'd as a SK. Oh well.

I'm glad she's ok. When I was an undergrad, someone fell off a balcony and died every year. It was really scary and sad.

What I read in the newspaper (from the police/ems report) is that she fell off a fire escape, NOT a balcony. The linked article also states that it was a fire escape, but the balcony comment came from someone else. I am not up on the SK architecture at Wazzu, but more often than not a balcony is easily accessible by a door, and there are certain heights involved with railings etc., and fire escapes are usually accessed through windows.

There are two Wazzu SKs on GC, but I doubt they'll comment. And last year we had a guy fall out the window of his fraternity house from his sleeping porch bed.

The chapter members that post here are obviously aware of the event. I have been told that she will be fine and her condition is not life threatening.
