Question Job interview in NYC/surrounding area- I need fashion help

I know people in NYC tend to wear dark colors year-round (as people do in many big cities I guess), but I haven't been there in a long time- What sort of suit would you suggest for this time of year? What colors are standard? I don't want to wear my J.Crew suit that I wear in winter, since it is dark gray and pretty heavy wool blend. I think something lighter (at least in terms of the fabric) might be more seasonally appropriate?

Also, skirt or trousers?

I suggest a navy suit with a skirt in a material appropriate for the summer. Good luck on your interview!

I would top it off with a scrunchy. I hear those are all the rage in downtown NYC nowadays, lol.

librasoul22 don't be difficult!!

twinstars I agree with cream...I just got a navy suit and intend on wearing it in a few weeks to placement interviews for my new job in NYC. Granted I get navy or beige shoes to wear with it!

I've still seen a good number of black suits too. Usually a skirt suit and sling back shoes or open toe, but still business like, to make the outfit feel more summery.

Best of luck with your interview!

Today I was behind a woman (who got off the train with me at Grand Central and she was in work clothes so you know she'd from here!) who had not one, but TWO, scrunchies in her hair. A light blue and a navy - I almost asked her if she was a Kappa, but I knew she couldn't be!
I did want to say, "Did you NOT watch Sex and the City lady?!?"

I think Navy is good. Black is good too and easier to deal with the shoe color issue I think. Or grey is fine too, but a nice light shade. Good luck!

Wow, look at all these GC ladies coming to NYC! Of course, with Cream and I here I can't say I blame ya!!!

I just got my very first suit today... well I had gotten my very very first one last week (a pretty mauve color), but I returned it because my parents thought the skirt was too short... so after hitting nearly every store in the mall today, I left with a very nice black suit that I'll be wearing to an interview soon.

I did not watch Sex and The City...so can someone fill me in on the deal w/ the scrunchies?

And I don't think anything can top the girl from Clarion who wore a mane (aka banana clip) for her COLLEGE GRADUATION picture. Even in the 80's, that was beyond the limits of good taste.
