I think Midnight Star and S.O.S Band (remember "Just Be Good To Me"?) are touring as a part of larger funk group. I heard them one morning on one of Tom Joyner's skyshow's.
What ever happened to Christopher Williams, Junior, Jermaine Stewart, Johnny Gill and Teena Marie?

remember that group....DRS (dirty Rotten Scoundrels)

they sang a song that went something like this:

This song is dedicated to my homies
In that gangsta lean
Why'd you have to go so soon?
It seems like yesterday we were hanging
Round the hood
Now I'm gonna keep your memory alive
Like a homie should
A lifetime of memories
Going down the drain
I'd like to keep stepping
But I can't get past the pain
I tip my 40 to your memory
Take a drink and I start to think and I
I know one day soon we'll be
We'll be hanging out

Chorus:
This is for my homies
(This is for my homies)
See you when I get there
In that gangsta lean
In that gangsta lean
This is for my homies
(This is for my homies)
See you when I get there
In that gangsta lean
In that gangsta lean

that use to be my song...me and some friends even made a video off of it.

I saw on VH-1 were Teena Marie is working on a new album.
What about that group Pure Soul that sung "we must be in love" and remade "stairway to heaven"?
I remember Mokenstef's He's mine ("He might be doing you, but he's thinking about me")- yeah right!

I was going to mention Changing Faces, but I saw on BET where they have a new song out.

What about Ready for the World, Rob Base, Wreckx-n-effect, Rakim, and Oaktown 357?

Give me time and I'll come up with some more.

Zchi4Life,
What's your address? I can mail you my old record player, that still works! LOL!!

CrimsonTide4,
I hear you on the Kut Klose, I'll play "Surrender" without hesitation!

i miss Johnny Gill, his last CD was wonderful.

What happened to Nonchalant, "5 o'clock in the morning"??

Where is Chauntay Savage? I liked her CD with I WILL SURVIVE on it.

Crimson, I forgot about Chantay S. I have that "I Will Survive" single. And I forgot about Christopher Williams (with his alleged woman beating behind). And I also have the Biz Markie single "But you Said He's Just a Friend"... was Biz even sane?

THAT BIZ song was the joint. I was in what 9th or 10th grade.

My Christopher Williams' songs were PROMISES, PROMISES and. . .
I talk to myself cuz there is no one to talk to
People wonder why I do what I do.

I was looking through my CD and tape collection yesterdaay and got all nostalgic. Remember Lisa Fischer, HOW CAN I EASE THE PAIN!!! and where is CeCe Peniston, that was my girl.

Remember Lisa Stansfield- "been around the world and i-i-i-i can't find my baby"
Where is soul 2 soul? "Keep on moving and back to life". Remember all of those braids.

Tony, Toni, Tone'- why did they break up?

Where is Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Heavy D?

man....i used to have the biggest crush on Big Daddy Kane...

R.A.W
i'm genuine like gucci...raw like sushi
To stage a rage is what rap did to me
To make me want to create chaos and mayhem
Cold rock a party until the A.M.

or
Ain't no half Stepping...
aaaaaaaah yeah
I’m with this
I’m just gonna sit here laid back to this nice mellow beat, you know
And drop some smooth lyrics
Cause it’s ‘88
Time to set it straight, knowwhatI’msaying
And ain’t no half stepping
Word
I’m ready

or

it's a big daddy thing...

The question at hand, is how do I love thee?
I count the ways but girls don't shove me
One by one you can come and caress me
Undress and molest me but you can't posess me

ok..i took it back a bit...but those were the big daddy jams......

heavy D..

man.. remember this
we'll i'm rough and tough and all that stuff
i'll make you dance and prance till you huff and puff
there just no way you can get enuff
of me
yo mr big stuff

ight..i won't kill ya'll with the lyrics to every song mentioned....

My parents have a whole garage full of albums, so anytime you all want to reminesce, you can find Stephanie Mills, Teena Marie, Luther Vandross, The Boys, The Jets, Rick James, Guy, etc. in our garage.

I was just listening to a CD (burned, I think) with so many old songs. Remember, "I gotta man. What's your man gotta do with me?" Wasn't that Big Daddy Kane? R. Kelly was singing Bump 'n' Grind and everything. Warren G and Nate Dogg were even telling me about regulators. Too funny. But remember "All I wanna do is zooma zoom zoom zoom and a boom boom - just shake your rump!" That one played too, but I can't remember who sang that. And what about Michele, that woman who sang beautifully but had the highest pitched Minnie Mouse voice you ever heard?

Mwedzi,
Big Daddy Kane didn't sing/rap "I gotta man". I can't recall who did that....I got his face in my head too! I can't think of it. But maybe someone else can.
Wrecks-n-Effects did the "shake the rump" song
I liked Miche'le (however it's spelled) too. She did have a great singing voice. But her real voice just totally amazed me. I never understood how she could sing deep but talk so high!
