A New Phi Mu after all these years

A newly-initiated Phi Mu (after all these years!) at the U of Southern Mississippi -- story with picture:

http://www.usm.edu/news/article/%E2%...omecoming-week

As someone said not long ago in connection with a similar story about a Washburn U ZTA new initiate: "this is what AI is for."

BTW the new Phi Mu was, reportedly, a founding member of the Dixie Darlings

what a beautiful story! THIS is what AI should be for.

I think we should send every "I didn't join a sorority in college, but now I want to have the sorority experience through AI" poster to this story!

She was initiated by herself since Alpha Omicron's regular initiation is not for several weeks. Lady Dell was back in town (she lives in Florida) for Homecoming and the annual Dixie Darling reunion.

The collegiate members who attended literally had tears in their eyes the entire service! It was very special for all involved.

The doll she is holding was given to her when she pledged but she gave it to someone when she knew she would not get initiated. It was found and returned to her for her initiation!

I'm just going to point out that this is not the ONLY thing AI is for. I know several awesome Phi Mu AI's who were never undergraduate pledges or anything, but were outstanding women approached by local Phi Mus as possible candidates for sisterhood.

Phi Mu AI policy, the last time I saw it several years ago anyways, gives favor to those who pledged but didn't initiate among a few other select reason. I don't mind AI as long as a group of sisters are willing to back the person for membership. But that's just me.
