E-mail from an ex?
So what do you y'all think of this -
I just got an e-mail outta the blue from a guy I dated like five years ago. We met through a mutual friend at a New Year's party after I just went through a REALLY crappy breakup before Christmas. We dated off and on while he was at the Air Force Academy and then broke it off due to distance. The break wasn't painful but it wasn't nice either. Cause I found out later on that he started dating a local girl RIGHT after that.
Long story short - I met him randomly again in San Antonio about a year later and we hung out. Nothing came of it and I hadn't heard from him since.
So a few days ago, I got a random e-mail from him wondering how I was doing (never mind that the e-mail was to my school addy which is my new married name which he would have no way of knowing?!).
How do you respond to stuff like this?!

Respond by saying.... Everything is great, I got married in blah blah blah.... A few piddly details about your life now.... How are YOU doing? I hope everything is great. Thanks for your e-mail.
You're married, I doubt you will hear from him again after that.

I woould reply with "Hi- nice to hear from you. I am married now (x yrs, can you believe it - time flies!), I am going to grad school and doing whatever else. Hope all is well with you-- have a good holiday. "

I'd go with this one. That's what I did when a guy I dated 2 years ago called out of the blue (minus the married part). Only heard from him that one time, so I think it'll work.

I learned a valuable lesson from Madmax in another thread.

ITs not a weapon to tell a guy you got married . .. its not something that would bother us.

Is that semi-stalkerish that he tracked down her email address with a completely different last name in it?

You might want to consider this
Its one fail proof way to get an ex to stop contacting you

I, too, got a random email from an ex this summer. However, it was a GREAT thing! Yes, my name had changed due to marriage, but he found me by googling my maiden name and then finding links to APO, and then finding my current email from there. Stalkerish? Naw, just being resourceful!
He's married w/ kids, I'm divorced now - but it was great to touch base with someone who knew me 'way back when.' We still email back and forth every now and then - not b/c he wants me back (or I want him back), but b/c we're mature enough to carry on a friendship. I've met his wife and kids, and I'm happy that he's found happiness as well.
I guess the point I'm making is to not read too much into it. I don't subscribe to the premise from "When Harry Met Sally..." that guys and girls can't be 'just friends.' Maturity can change a lot of things, and one can never have too many friends.

I agree. One of my best friends in the world is a female.
She is also a lesbian.
