I saw a blog ripping on "bad" wedding dresses and they posted a yellow one while talking about how bad a color yellow was for a wedding. Except the mannequin's in Asia, i couldn't tell based on the lettering reflection in the window what country, but hello, white is not the universal color of weddings outside of the west, and even then, it's not the only color!

It's all Queen Victoria's fault, really.

Anyway, I CANNOT stand this dress that appeared on Say Yes to the Dress more than once! It is just wrong and it looks like more like lingerie than a wedding dress.

I remember one bride who was furious that her stomach was visible! I remember thinking no s***! It is like freakin' lingerie what did you expect!

I also am not a fan of the "colored" dresses. I don't mind an accent color here and there. But an entire dress that is red or blue, it just confuses me and I don't get it!

Oh and I have had a few friends who have worn strapless and their dress looks awful! Just because you like your chest doesn't mean everyone in their mother wants to see your chest presented like boobs on a platter! Seriously people! Strapless is not for everyone and I almost think that bigger chested women should stay away! Almost as bad as halter dress where the halter is too tight!
I can't stand wedding dresses that look like lingerie. It doesn't seem appropriate for the occasion. Not like everyone at my wedding (well, the ones that know me) are going to think I'm some untouched flower, but still. I'm personally not going to go for sexy.

In some cultures wedding dresses are in different colors (like red). But I do agree that it seems odd for a wedding here in the states.

ETA: As far as strapless...it's not my style for my hypothetical wedding dress, but I think it's a bad idea for the super endowed and those like me...those that are lacking. I agree I don't want to look at boobs during the wedding. But for people like me, even with good alterations it's hard to keep that dress in place all night. And pulling up a dress is bad enough on most occasions but especially during your own wedding. I'll have straps (or preferably cap sleeves) myself for that reason.

I have seen some girls pull off a strapless beautifully.

If you're wearing a strapless dress, and you have what appears to be cleavage in the back/on the side or you have to pull and tug to keep it up, it's not for you and it needed to be left on the hanger.

Ex: I have the chest of a 12-year-old boy, so anything strapless stays where it belongs--on the hanger.

Well I'm a child of the 70s and I'm pretty sure it's been around in the 3 decades I've been around

My great grandmother (who was born in 1896, married around 1921) wore white...so maybe it's a regional thing or a Southern thing...if you want to wear blood red or some other color that is fine but it's just not my thing.

I have seen some brides pull off the strapless. I think if you have a good figure and aren't too big on top it works. But I have one friend in mind when I wrote that last night! Her boobs looked like they were on a platter and it just didn't work! I am not one to tell someone what they are wearing looks awful, but for wedding dress shopping I think I would speak up! (I know I did with my sister that's for sure!)

I have pretty big boobs and I think my strapless dress turned out alright. I hate halter dresses but would never say that people shouldn't wear them. To me it's more of a tailoring/fit issue than the cut of the dress -- if your dress is tailored properly you shouldn't have to tug on it at all.

Yes a good tailor/alterations person is a must! I'm sure you looked fabulous in your dress

I can't lie, there's something about this one that I kindof love. I mean, atrocious as a wedding gown, but as a gown in general, makes me kindof wish that giormous skirts like that were still in fashion.

I would have worn the SHIT out of one of those Barbie dresses as a subversive prom dress, with like, punk styling. I adore them.
