Smile Introduction <3

Hi, I'm Natalie. I'm going to a sophomore this fall at University of Texas at Austin. I'm a transfer student and I am going to rush this fall. I have greek in my blood, my grandma was a theta, my sister was a Kappa, three of my cousins were theta and 2 of my aunts. I want to know more about the process and how my status of being a sophomore, transfer student will affect my changes of getting a bid!

Texas is quite the competitive recruitment (many legacies, mostly freshmen). Good luck and happy reading!

Your being out of state and a sophomore will usually affect your recruitment. Don't concentrate on this because these are things that are out of your control. Focus on the things you can control:

1. Get recommendations and letters of support for every chapter. Do it NOW.

2. Have any relatives that are in a position to do so write you a legacy introduction. Those who have relationships that don't qualify you as a legacy should write a letter of support or at least a recommendation.

3. Relax, be yourself and don't listen to the tent talk. Don't get your heart set on certain chapters.

4. Be ready to answer the question about why you didn't go Greek at your previous school in case someone asks.

5. Don't go on and on about the Greek relatives you have. It isn't unusual here and can be abrasive. Do mention it if asked.

6. Dress cute but with comfort and the heat in mind. It will be about 100 degrees and you will do a lot of walking especially in the first days.

Have fun and good luck!
