05/05/07 - Mint Juleps or Margaritas?
For the first time that I can recall the Kentucy Derby falls on Cinco De Mayo! I'm trying to convince my family that we need to don our giant somberos and drink up Mint Juelps and Margaritas! I figure Mojitos too since they're kind of like Mint Juleps' illegitimate baby.
What will you be sipping on this Saturday?

I might be at a Polish bar, so there's a chance I'll be having both w/ a side order of pierogies.

I graduate from college this Saturday...so I'm sure I'll be drinking something. We have a huge bottle of mojito mix on the table, so that could be very tempting...
Or maybe I'll just take a flask of tequila to graduation and tell them that I'm celebrating Cinco de Mayo. It could work!

I'm not that refined. I'm gonna try to make Kentucky Derby pie though, that stuff is amazing! You could just do shots of tequila and peppermint schnapps alternately and be really trashy.
Here's to a safe and well-run Derby. Not sure I could go through another Barbaro situation (that would be the horselover in me though).

I have our Pansy Brunch in the morning. I think most of the alumnae in my chapter frown upon the drink.
What time is the derby?

I'm a Kentucky Boy so i'm siding with Juleps...I LOVE BOURBON! But i think mojitos are an acceptable and delicious alternative to combine the two cultures.

Mojitos "originated" in Cuba. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday.
just a side note---Cinco de Mayo is not a big celebration in Mexico, us Americans just like to make it a big deal.
But give me a margarita any day!!! Shoot now y'all got me thirsty!! haha
