I hope they can get a Columbia Lion and Millie the Dancing Bear (Barnard) both there for the Alpha recolonization! They are tabling in the Diana Center this week and have an informational meeting Wednesday evening!

The Greek letter Lambda resembles one of the mascot's pointed horns, and the Greek letter Rho is the letter 'P' which could be used in a cute spelling of the word PHROG.

I don't think so. Many times they pick names that are significant to the campus in some way, but the chapter really like Lambda for some reason. I suspect it was to honor their Chapter Advisor who is one of my chapter sisters from Lambda Tau, but that's just a guess. They may have chosen their submotto and picked the chapter name to match.

Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta and Phi Mu will be presenting at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Presentation dates are March 5th, 8th and 12th. I'm not sure who's on which date.

There are potential recolonizations here! Good luck to all groups presenting!
Alpha Xi Delta was the first NPC sorority to colonize at Nebraska-Kearney in 1962-1969. Chi Omega colonized in 1962 as well.
Delta Zeta had a chapter present from 1963-1967.

And also worth mentioning, the journalistic tradition in America is dying a slow and painful death. Did you catch the ridiculous contradiction in that first paragraph?
"At a time when Greek life is declining on some college campuses, fraternities and sororities are as popular as ever at Ole Miss, where recruitment and chapter expansions parallel the overall increase in Panhellenic numbers nationally."
Umm, which is it, declining or increasing? I get a feeling the student, not a Greek, thought numbers were shrinking, wrote the article, and was fact checked. But instead of just changing the opening thought, added a "some" to the sentence, as though that doesn't make the rest of the sentence sound stupid.

The article could have definitely been improved with some interviews for more information.

LaneSig and irishpipes -- for your lists; other GCers -- for your information
“The Gamma Alpha chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity at the College of William and Mary will suspend operations effective May 13, 2013.
Declining membership led the National Council to shut down the 87-year-old chapter. ” . . .

Sigma Chi has "indefinately suspended" the University of Dayton(OH) chapter. Closure is due to RMF.
