Thumbs up AKA and APHIA Beautillion

Contact me if you are interested in going! I will send you pics later! longshot1906@yahoo.com

Location: Antun's
96-43 Springfield Boulevard, Queens Village, NY
When: Friday, June 18, 8:00pm -
Saturday, June 19, 1:00am

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Rho Omega Chapter and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter invite you to participate in our 1st Joint Biennial Rites of Passage Program and Beautillion. Our target population is African American men and women ranging in age from 14-18 years old. The objective is to provide positive life skills training that is anchored in high expectations and support.

Beaus and escorts are expected to attend an initial orientation meeting and fully participate in all bi-weekly workshops and rehearsals for the culminating Beautillion event. The Rites of Passage Program includes a series of life skills workshops and activities that will provide participants with an invaluable learning experience. The workshops will run from December 2003 to May 2004.

The Rites of Passage Program will conclude with a Cross-Over ceremony on May 23, 2004. The final event will be a formal black-tie ceremony to present the participants to the community. Harambee is our unity call for the Beautillion. This concept is grounded in the Eastern African tradition where the community organizes around the task of dutifully planting seeds and later harvesting a bountiful crop. It is our sincere hope that as these students navigate through the crossroads of adolescence to young adulthood, they will reflect on this holistic experience and utilize the skills learned to raise consciousness, solve problems and effect change.

The event will be a fun filled evening for participants, family and friends.

Ticket price $65
