South Carolina Fraternity Questions

Im going to be a Freshman at South Carolina this upcoming year and Im interested in Rush. Im coming from out of state and have not really heard much about the greek system at South Carolina and there is very little online. There are a few guys from my high school that are involved in fraternities at South Carolina but I only really know one of the guys from playing sports with him. My question is does South Carolina do recruitment over the summer and lock in recruits or is it relatively open during the first week? Like do I need to contact the guy now on facebook or can I just make it work when I get up there? And I've also tried to search on here for reps of fraternities but haven't really found anything. I have heard that SAE, Sigma Nu, Sigma Chi, and KA are good ones at South Carolina but don't really know any of there reputations or what they are about. If anybody goes there please reply as there isn't really anything else on this site about South Carolina rush

You're not going to. Reputations of individual chapters or fraternities as a national whole are not discussed on Greek Chat.

Doesn't hurt to be a little social and inquire early on in the summer. I'm not too sure about the specifics of South Carolina, but if you're a good fit for a certain chapter, I doubt you'll truly have issues if you wait until the beginning of the semester. If you don't get in a chapter your first semester, you can always wait until next semester.

The idea is: keep an open mind, be social, and check out as many chapters as you can. Good luck!
