Rho Gammas?

I've been browsing around this forum a lot, and have heard many references to Rho Chis...at my sorority orientation meeting, we were introduced to our Rho Gammas...sort of recruitment advisors. Are these the same thing? Anyone else call them Rho Gammas? Is there any reason for the difference?

Sarah....

Rho Chi's and Rho Gam's are the same thing. We use Rho Gam at Akron because we were told to change the name from Rho Chi to something else.

Different name but same meaning and purpose!

Question ah ha.....

hmm, that's really interesting. ours are still rho chis. i was wondering, though, i know that "rho chi" is derived from "recruitment counselor". what is the derivation for other terms like "rho gamma" and "gamma chi"?

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think I heard something about Rho Gamma standing for Recruitment Guide.

"Rho Chi" - Recruitment Counselor

"Gamma Rho Chi" - Greek Recruitment Counselor
"Sigma Rho Chi" = Sorority Recruitment Counselor
"Gamma Chi" - Greek Counselor
"Rho Alpha" - Recruitment Assistant
"Rho Gamma" = Recruitment Guide
"Rho Omega" - Recruitment Officer

And probably plenty others!

Yes, I've also heard:

Pi Chi: Panhellenic Counselor

Pi Rho Alpha: Panhellenic Recruitment Advisor

It's a shame it's not standardized as it was...it was nice to be able to share that little bit of rush nostalgia with every other alumnae of NPC rush!

I'm all for standardizing the name, too. It's too confusing to talk to people on different campuses - especially when they're not very familiar with the Greek system to begin with - and find that you're only getting the pnm even more confused!

Question: Is the national Panhellenic Leadership Honorary still Rho Lambda?
