chapter names

ok so i have a lot of free time on my hands. . . i was wondering why we don't have any "eta" chapters? like it goes from zeta blank to theta blank. and why is there no theta omega? it goes from theta psi (my chapter) to kappa alpha. where are the missing chapters? i don't think there ever was a theta omega, cuz the founding dates of theta psi and kappa alpha are fairly close. points to ponder. . .

Things to make you go hmmm

Maybe your not missing chapters. Maybe the ones that you are missing are dormmat (I don't know how NHQ has that set-up). I don't have a good explanition that's the only thing that I can think of. You might want to try and call NHQ to see what the real deal is.

i realize some of the earlier missing chapters are most likely dormant. my promise book is in storage in pa right now so i don't have the list of all of our chapters, active and dormant. i still wonder about the "eta" chapter designation though. . .

To answer the original question, as Sigma Kappa finished out the Zeta series of chapters, National Council decided to skip Eta and go on to Theta. Same thing with Iota - Council decided to skip Iota and go straight from Theta to Kappa. My assumption is that they didn't like the way those letters sounded, but that's only a guess. Anyway, there's your SK trivia of the day.

Red face Hee.

I didn't type all of it. I cut and paste the list from Virtual Violet; then went back and bolded the chapter names.

Just some simple math...

I tallied up all of the chapters, and then counted the number of active ones, did some division and found that about 87% of our chapters are still active. I don't know how that compares to other chapters but my initial thought was that was pretty good!

(I think this is right)

Actually, we have chartered 195 (197 if you include Beta and Gamma), and we have 107 currently active, so that's not quite 55% currently active.

I would love to see them recolonize IU Bloomington I don't know I was sondering the same thing. The last time I heard about us rcolonizing was Virginia (something) please correct me if I am wrong, but that's been about year half ago maybe 2 years. We need to help Nationals get on the ball.

I am surprised about lack of recolinization too. I was very surprised about the small number of chapters located in Texas. There are soooo many colleges and universities and only 3 chapters (if i misscounted i am sorry). I am especially surprised there are no active chapters in Houston, especially since there is supposedly a real strong alumna base here. I wish there was a chapter close by
Maybe soon though! Who knows!

My chapter helped recolonize Virginia Tech back in the Spring of 2001. I wasn't a sister yet but that pledge class was initiated by Angela Guillory. My chapter and Epsilon Chi did the ceremony together
