Quota question - need help
Need the expert opinion of someone who knows the green book better than me....
If a chapter does not Initiate the number of women that equals quota, is the chapter allowed to pick up more members to meet quota?
Example: Quota is 10. Chapter gets 10 at recruitment but 2 drop prior to initiating and the chapter initiates 8 during fall semester. Is the chapter then allowed to pick up 2 more ladies through COB in order to meet quota for that school year?
I think the answer to this is yes.... can you guys help me?

The answer is No .. not unless the chapter is under total. If a chapter meets quota and all the new members go thru the new member ceremony, the chapter cannot replace depledged members unless the chapter is under total. The chapter can replace them, if (and only if) the new member does not go thru the new member ceremony (ie if they decline their bid).

Actually, I thought that was what we all thought and then gatordeltapgh told us that quota does not "expire" that quickly - it lasts until the next formal rush.

Quota does last until the next formal recruitment. But quota is no longer relevant once the women go thru formal pledging. If you matched to quota, they all show up and they all go thru formal pledging, then quota is no longer an issue. Total becomes the issue.

great! Thanks for the responses. I have no idea what total is at the school in question.... and it's not one that we are able to keep track of in the massive recruitment threads - no info for the school or the chapters

^ This
As I understand it, if you don't have everyone who matched to quota show up to Bid Day (those that do not wish to be New Members; silly ladies), you could, theoretically, fill those spots as long as you do so by the formal pledging ceremony (often within a week of Bid Day).
And, of course, if you are under Total, you are always welcome to try and recruit more members.

Actually, if quota is 25 and you only have 20 go thru the formal pledging ceremony(even if 25 accepted your bid), you are eligible to pledge 5 girls at anytime in the upcoming year.
To further complicate matters, if your chapter is under total, you can keep pledging girls until you reach total.

I don't think that's the complicated part - everyone has always known that. The "quota lasts beyond bid day" thing, however, was news to me until I read it on GC.

quota additions however cannot be replaced if you have declines that do not take you below quota. Such as if quota is 25 and you match with 28 pnms and 2 decline on bid day, you may not replace them. Under the same numbers- Q 25, match 28 and 4 decline, you can replace one with a snap bid or COR.
