Greek licensing governance

I have a question about licensing agreements that the national organization puts in place. (OPA is working through this now.) Does the existence of a national licensing agreement mean that your collegiate chapters can't design their own t-shirts and go to a local company to have them printed? Or does each chapter have to have their design pre-approved by someone at National? How do you govern that?

I can only speak definitively on Gamma Xi Phi. (Though I'm a member of APO and APhiA, I just don't know the policy well.)

GXP has 7 official vendors, and as it stands a chapter would have to use one of those vendors for their needs. Perhaps two, maybe three do t-shirt screen printing. Our vendors know the design standards and therefore we'd trust that they wouldn't make tacky or inappropriate paraphernalia.

Delta Gamma is the same. Chapters are told to use only licensed vendors.

Greek Licensing

As approved Greek licenses vendor, each vendor has to be approved for each Greek Organization. We pay a fee to be licensed. We can choose who we want. Your locate print shops can apply for Greek licenses. The licensed company has to have the artwork approved from Affinity before moving forward on a order. The Greek originations have paid a fee to Affinity collect and protect their branding. I hope this helps.

The last think you want is some Chinese/Indonesian/Pakistani subcontractor to plaster your image all over t-shirts destined for ebay and flea markets. Stick to the approved vendor lists.
