Does it matter?
Greetings to all-
I am a new member to GreekChat. I just wanted to stop in and say "A friendly Hello!"
And to also so ask a simple question if you do not mind me asking.
Before I ask my question I just wanted to say that I mean no disrespect by the question that I ask. If I offend anyone by asking this question. Would you please find it in your heart to forgive me.
My question is this: Does it really matter what color that you wear to one of your functions? I know what you wear makes the impression as long as it is tasteful and apporate in nature. I am just curios about the color.
Thank you for taking the time out to read this post. Again I mean no disrespect by my question at all just a curious question.May God bless you and keep you. And may you find the strength that you search for in God.

O.K. I'll try this one.
Just from my past experiences. I always made it a point not to wear the sororities colors or any other sororities colors for that matter. I always played it safe and wore browns and greys to a function. You should see my closet. Now that I'm a Delta, I still wears those colors but of course Crimson and Cream is in my closet. Just dress as a business professional. You can never go wrong with a knee length skirt and neutral color top. Always dress professional when attending any of our functions.

I agree with my Soror on this.
I remember one time when we were on the yard in between classes and I was talking to a couple of Zetas and one of my Sorors came up wearing a blue business suit (she had a job interview). I told the Zetas here comes one of your new Sorors. It was all in fun and no harm intended.
This also reminds me of an chain e-mail I had received once that you can tell you're an oldhead if you see someone or you yourself wear another organization's colors and you don't care.

I totally agree with you sorors. I can recall attending rush last year (before I was a Delta of course) and I remember seeing ladies walking in the room looking for good seats. One girl had on a Blue, blouse with a cream skirt. Another young lady came in a BIGHT pink Blouse and some Gray slacks (If she wanted to stand out, trust me she did!!!) I was like WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!! I wore a Cream/Brown three piece suit. I always felt you can NEVER go wrong with neutral colors.

The worst was when I went to my chapter's rush to support my neos and a girl walked in wearing head to toe Purple & Gold!!! I guess we were supposed to commend her for wearing the colors of our "bruz"! The sad thing is, she admitted afterwards that that WAS why she wore those colors! That was just a small example of her immaturity and naivete.
I agree with my lovely sorors: Stick with neutral colors like greys, browns, and all black. Any accent colors should be tasteful and minimal, and of colors that don't reflect a BGLO.
You want to stand out because of your class and elegance, not because of the colors you're wearing.

I agree that you can't go wrong with the neutral colors...grey, brown, black.
Don't wear pink to a delta function.
Don't wear red to an aka function.
Don't wear purple and gold.
Do wear something professional if it's a business function such as a seminar, workshop, etc.

I know at our Spring '99 rush, a young lady wore a red dress. Of course, she was the talk of the campus the next day. Most people and Sorors didn't know her name, but we remembered her as "the girl who wore the red dress to the Delta rush."

My best friend who is an AKA will kill me when she reads this but I remember she wore a red suit to the AKA's tea LOL. She didn't know any better though...ROFL. I'm laughing because it brings back memories and it was about 8 years ago.

I'm still laughing at this one. At a workshop a Soror made a comment about how years ago you could wear red. The younger sorors just laughed and said nothing. The shock was when several 60+ sorors stood up and commented about how they had never heard of a prospective wearing red and that the only ones who ought to be wearing red at their rushes were Deltas. And we thought it was just a collegiate thing.

My metor pledged DST in 1989, and she told me that she wore pink and green to the rush...and had the guts to ask the most questions!!! I could'nt see myself doing such a thing . I thought that was funny and bold on her part.
