Unhappy My throat hurts!

What do y'all do when your throat hurts soooo bad? I can't even talk anymore. I've tried throat drops and those last me for about 15 minutes. Any suggestions?

Tylenol Sore Throat

It's a liquid and kind of coats the throat as it's going down. It did wonders for my daughter when she had strep.

And, see a doc, if it hurts that bad you probably need an antibiotic.

Go to the doc and get some penicillin or amoxicillan (yeah, can't spell today) ASAP. You probably have strep throat and nothing's going to help it if you don't get meds. It just gets worse and can totally knock you on your ass.

Any other symptoms? Fever? Swollen glands? Look at the back of your throat- are there white spots? If so, definately strep.

I've had strep twice in the past month. I usually get it at least once a year since i was about 5, so i'm a bit of an expert on it

Yeah...what she said. Strep Throat is going around. Folks here at work had it and kids at my son's daycare had it.

however, if you have symptoms like a runny nose, congestion, etc... it's probably just a really bad sore throat. i thought i had strep once but i had a bunch of cold symptoms as well. according to webMD, if you have cold symptoms, you don't have strep. Strep has symptoms like Dani said... fever, swollen glands, etc.

drink lots of water. maybe pop an asprin or something.

You can still have some cold type symptoms and have strep. I usually get some amount of congestion and excess mucus, some coughing.
But, bottom line (as is in most of the ask a medical question threads here), go to the doctor. Regardless of what it is, they can probably give you something to make you feel better!

whoa whoa, coming on GC to ask for small time medical advice?

Prepare to get flamed by Mu Pi for consulting someone other than a doctor.

Have your sore throat kissed better by Hall's Soothers.

Dunno, do they sell Merocaine there?

Thanks for the advice. I am taking antibiotics for a lovely case of bronchitis and a sinus infection. I think the sore throat is a combination of dehydration and not being able to breathe out of my nose.
But hey, at least I don't have a supposed concussion. After a few doses of cough syrup, I just might tho.
