I'm not sure we can help you attain that "knwldge". Good luck.

Having some exposure to Greek life is usually a positive for someone going through recruitment rather than a negative.
Legacy relationships can cause a pmn to feel more inclined toward a particular group but does not mandate joining that group.

The legacy status of a parent/family member does not guarantee you a bid/invitation to join a chapter either FYI.

True. But if she's asking about legacy status in the strict sense, she would only be a legacy in her mother's sorority. What being a legacy means or what benefits (if any) legacy status carries would depend completely on that sorority's policies.

in addition, different chapters often view legacies differently. at one chapter, it might mean that the members give the legacy every consideration where as at another chapter, it doesn't make a bit of difference.

It really depends on the chapter and the circumstances. All other things being equal, it can be an advantage. My chapter did give extra consideration to legacies, but wasn't above cutting a couple whom we knew were not compatible with us. And there are a few that I wish we had cut, but that's another thread ...

First, SHOUTING doesn't really help in recruitment. Kind of throws off the mood.
Second, in addition to varying chapter/circumstances/etc, the schools differ too... at competitive schools your best shot is if you are a legacy (but that still doesn't guarantee anything); at very non-competitive schools like mine any legacy was exciting, regardless of what she was a legacy to. We got one rec in four years and it was a major novelty. It was cool but was not the reason she was extended a bid. Since you have at least some connections, use them to get recs (the search feature of this forum will be your friend for rec info) because recs will not hurt- but don't assume simply being a legacy will or will not help you.

I guess I didn't read "legacy" into the OP's question. She was asking if "having parents who were Greek, helped."
I still say, yes. Having Greek parents helps in the same way that having a parent who is good at math will help when you need help with your math homework. If you need some math advice, tutoring, etc then I think a math-oriented parent can help, advise, tutor better than someone who can only add with a calculator.
But, if you are asking about being a legacy and what that can mean for a pnm, well, that puts another wrinkle in the discussion...and has been discussed in other threads.

Right, but she titled the thread "LEGACIES," so it wasn't exactly clear . . . even when shouted.

Much depends on what kind of org she's talking about -- NPHC, NPC . . . .

Also depends on the individual orgs. We do not have the same policies regarding Legacies.
