^^^Yay.
In terms of the wedding I'm helping plan-- Houston, we have COLORS. Final colors. After 4 to 5 color changes during the engagement period. I wanted to start the Hallelujah chorus when she told me that!

Someone needs to get me off the OBX Wedding Association website RIGHT NOW. I would cut the guest list in a second if it meant getting married in Corolla.

I pitched the idea to fiance and he was suprisingly open to it. So, maybe? A destination wedding would be perfect for us because aside from immediate family, I don't really care who is/isn't at our wedding. I'm looking into how much it would cost, logistics, etc. right now.

I vote for destination. You probably have alot more choices/variety in locations and such. They're also good for people who are flexible on their guest lists (ex: they don't care if only 50 people can come).
I realize that I just gave myself a vote with your wedding plans. I hope you're cool with that. lol.

If anyone sees the dresses that Entertainment Tonight was proposing for Kate Middleton, PLEASE post the pictures! I loved the one, but was busy with a client.

question: what does everyone think about paper plates and plastic utensils used at a wedding reception? is it considered too cheap? i know that the gf and our families will want a big reception (400-500 people). they know alot of people! it will most likely be buffet style and self-served.

If it's buffet style, I would caution against using paper plates because they tend to get floppy/soggy/flimsy, and people are going to be carrying them at least a certain distance (with 400-500 people, gosh!) indoors, and accidents happen with regular dishes but paper plates tend to have accidents happen a lot more often.
Usually the hall you hold the reception in will have plates/utensils available to you. That or the caterer. I don't even want to know what feeding 500 people would cost you - you might want to try to limit that.

If you're having an outside bbq reception I'd paper plate it up.

Agree with this. Paper plates + buffet = disaster, unless it is a BBQ outside. And a buffet line for 400-500 people? That's not a very realistic idea, either, unless you have a really good caterer and venue that can make sure there are numerous buffets and that the lines keep moving.
It's one thing if you can't afford much and thus the paper plates. Here is just sounds like you want a boatload of people to come and are cutting corners to invite more people (I know, nothing planned yet, but this is just how it is coming across to me).
IMO, it comes across as cheap. If you can afford to invite 400-500 people to your wedding, at least pay for real plates. Again, IMO, unless it is a cultural thing (such as Indian weddings, which I know are a huge to-do, and I can't imagine paper plates would go down well with how extravagant those weddings are) or you have a family that is political/celebrityish, having such a large wedding comes across as gift grabby. Cutting corners at your guest's expense (such as paper plates for a buffet line) just so you can invite a shipload of guests is tacky.
There are other ways to cut costs that don't endanger your guests' dress clothes!
