Question about NCAA

I've been wondering and had the answer years ago. However, I forgot the answer. How can a school upgrade themselves from NCAA Div III to II, II to IA or IA to I?

They have to meet certain requirements, but yes.

ETA:

Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic are both talking about going from 1-AA to 1-A in the next few years.

Yeah, SDSU ruled Div II football, once they got to Div I, everything went downhill.

Does it has to do with stadium capacity or something like that? I know it doesn't have to do with having a stellar season from the previous season. UB always had an awful season but now they are D1 and getting spanked by everybody. That include my alma matter, who is a D3.

It takes two things:

1. Lots of money and
2. The willingness to put up with a bigger load of BULLSH**.

Florida A&M have been a Division I School for the longest time. They Petition, I think, Last year to the NCAA Committee to have their Football Program Compete in the Division I Level from Division I-AA. The Committee accepted the request. They supposed to start either this year or next year. The rest of A&M's sports programs have been competing on the Division I level for years.

I've been paying a little attention to them in football. They are supposed to play Oklahoma next year if they go to I-A.

Didn't care about the other sports

A&M vs. Oklahoma? that's something worth paying attention to.

It's not Florida A&M anymore. Been replaced with Oregon. They also replaced Arkansas St. with someone.
