Cool Hola!!

I'm new, and I just wanted to say hello to everyone! I am so excited about rush, and I'm glad to see everyone else is too! I have a question though; is anybody else encouraged to say Formal Recruitment instead of rush? Or is my school weird?

Cool

It's getting too PC!! AHHH!!! Just kidding! OK, just making sure. Oh, and we don't have pledges anymore; we have "new members." Craziness.

Cool

I think the semester I pledged it was the last time we called it Rush. The big squirrels don't bite our heads off if we don't say "Recruitment", but we're strongly encouraged to use it, especially with the new girls.

My school pushed us more to say "New members" instead of pledges more so than they pushed the rush vs. recruitment.

I go to the university of Missouri-Rolla. I transferred there from Mizzou! I live right across the street from LXA, and the guys are super nice! They sadly lost a brother this year when he was hit by a semi while bicycling. The greek system in Rolla is way different than Mizzou! I wanted nothing to do with greeks until I transferred!

The week before Recruitment when the whole chapter gets together to get ready and iron out all the details for the parties USED to be called rush workshop. Now we have to call it spirit week. It sounds like we're going to cheerleading camp or something!

No, your school is not weird.

The National Panhellenic Conference decided unanimously to change and "update" some of the terminology pertaining to "Rush".

So "Rush" is now "Recruitment" for any and all campuses with NPC groups, not just your school.

Other terms are changed as well...including:
Rushee = Potential New Member
Pledge = New Member
