College Plans for Fall 2020 Semester

Of course, this could change drastically, as C19 issues evolve... but it is a start

Here’s a List of Colleges’ Plans for Reopening in the Fall

I can't see the list but I hope to Heaven that the USG schools are on the list of schools that'll be open in person (4 of my kids attend them).

Looks like University of Georgia system says: The system plans in-person instruction at its campuses during the fall 2020 semester.

Interesting and confusing. NYU and Pace, in the very epicenter of the virus, say they plan to re-open. Barnard and Columbia are "considering a range of options" while Fordham, in the Bronx, plans to re-open....wow. Then you have small schools, like Bowdoin in rural Maine, that is planning to possibly do online courses or a hybrid. Stanford is on hold and the UC system is going for a hybrid.

As one who lives in NYC I cannot fathom parents sending kids here for the fall. The more I learn about how we will re-open and the perils involved (starting with the subway), the more I can't imagine anyone coming here until 2021 - for anything, school or otherwise!

Have no illusions, for those who are already announcing "back to campus" plans for this fall, it is all about revenue, peer competition, and catering to student/parent expressed desires at this point. As a department chair, my current virtual meeting life is revolving around these 3 things, as well as planning for a myriad of instructional possibilities.

Fascinating list, although I'm sure that there will be changes.

Thank you for sharing!

Yay! Two of my sons are taking courses that just can't be taught online, I don't care who brags that they can teach them that way. One is taking advanced botany with a lab, intermediate Japanese speaking, and a teaching internship. The other has 4 advanced Spanish classes, all of which involve conversation.

They've taken their core courses so these are all they can take.
