WOW!! The emeralds on that Chi O badge are gorgeous! Really stands out so beautifully. Too bad that is no longer an option.

That is amazing. How lucky that her family chose to return it to HQ!

We have the rose gold chased/engraved badge. One of my alumnae chapter sisters has it and it's very pretty.

I'm right there with you. I can't stand that. In the late 90s, I ordered a jeweled badge and was surprised to receive one with lab created sapphires instead of real ones, though the jeweler's brochure hadn't mentioned the stones were fake. I brought it up to them, and they did fix my badge and all subsequent brochures mentioned the lab created stones. But I'm sad that ADPi (and others) have gone that route. I don't even think they have a real stone option for ADPi badges. Some groups were still using real stones 10 years or so ago, but I'm guessing more are going the fake route.

I know this is a super old post, but I'd Googled for something unrelated earlier today and ran across it and wanted to clarify that hbrieholmes is not me. I am an ADPi (Phi Chapter--last one to be chartered as ADPhi before the name change!), and the badges I bought are because I love our pin and wanted to save them. I haven't bought any pins on ebay since 2001 or 2002, so unless you were bidding on the 1926 Phi pin or the 1964 Gamma Xi at that time, I probably didn't snipe anything from under you. Hope you are well!

Baci: I noticed that too! The price jumped extremely fast...

I do Well, perhaps not "regular" since I have less occasion to wear them these days, but I do avidly wear them. I just wore the 1926 Phi pin to Phi's 100th birthday celebration in April, actually.

The worst to me, than most synthetic lab created stones, are the synthetic opals. Ick!

Squee! Getting a new key soon! Will post a photo when it arrives. I have to share here because my husband and daughter Could. Not. Care. Less. In fact, my daughter thinks sapphires are ugly (oh dear!). She wanted to know why I didn't get red, her favorite color. So in about a decade, we may have a PNM who chooses a group because they have red as their color. Sigh.

There are times when I'm glad to be proved wrong! Good to see you posting again - my DH almost went to Hanover! I'm so glad that I got my pin(s) prior to that awful lab-created nonsense, too!

Oh wow, small world given how small a school it is! It was a great place to be Greek. Even then I was the nerd geeking out over the page in our Alpha manual with all the pictures of the different NPC pins or sitting in the House livingroom reading our old Bairds manuals or visiting my Big Diamond's room to read through Ritual (she was the Guard at one point). It's funny, cause I'm not that big into jewelry in general, but I absolutely love the design and history of GLO badges (but especially ours, of course )

May I suggest a group close to my heart with a little red stone at the apex of an A?
