A Simple Risk Management Issue every member should understand...

From the Delt Risk Management policy introduction:

"No insurance policy will provide coverage for any accident or incident if it's determined that the law was being broken. There is no such thing as coverage for violating the law."

It's that simple.

May I add an anecdotal incident? While I was going through my divorce, my ex & I had a duplex (renting one side, living on the other). When our tenants moved, I went in to clean it up, and that night, he broke a window to get in & see what I did. My idiot attorney told me to turn it in to our insurance company.

Not only did the insurance company not cover the damage (window, flooring, plastering, etc), but our insurance was cancelled!

The reason why Greeks pay so much more in dues now as opposed to 40-50 years ago is 90% insurance related!

It's also why fraternities pay much more than sororities. The later are allegedly "dry."

The other thing it's important to note is that underage drinking is against the law. Hazing is against the law in most states.

If something unfortunate happens during a party or other event in which the above is present, insurance won't cover it. The chapter is screwed -- to coin a phrase.
