We don't haze at all. We emphasize the importance of respect and hazing is not a way to demonstrate respect towards our pledges. We also tell our girls from the beginning that if at any point they feel uncomfortable to let us know because that is not the purpose of our pledge process. We have an open door policy with them and thus far we haven't had any complaints about out pledge policy.

Does Your Chapter Haze?

I'm not greek, but the chapter I'm currently applying to does NOT HAZE!, and there lies the problem; I want to have the full experience of Greeklife. My aunt talked about her experience; and I would like to build a sisterhood not sign a sisterhood. In other words I want to be made, not paper(and by all means no disrespect to anyone).

And that brings up another issue about pledging, do you receive the same respect if you paper as compared to being made????

Being "made"? Are we talking about initiation into a GLO or the Mafia?

I'm not familiar with the terms "paper" and "being made" in the context of Greek Letter Organizations. This sounds more like a Mafiosi becoming a "made man" after he makes his bones!?!

They're legitimate terms.

This person has no business talking about being made/what GLOs are doing, as she's not Greek.

They're legitimate terms in the NPHC context, and perhaps other contexts as well. For me, they fall into the category of "Things I've Learned on Greek Chat."

Your post should've started and ended with this sentence.

You essentially compared non-NIC/NPC organizations to criminal organizations because you weren't familiar with the terminology.

Of course you do. You chose to make a mafia reference instead of asking whether "made" is used by some GLOs.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time that label was attempted either on the Internet or in real life.

Speaking of the terms "made" and "paper" I had someone ask me something reagarding AI into my organization. She said, "Well, if someone gets AI, does that mean they are seen as not real sisters and they are just paper?" Thankfully, I knew what she was talking about-thanks to GC. I had to explain that the term "paper" doesn't really exist in my GLO and is generally reserved for NPHC and other multicultural GLOs. I give her respect for that because she had heard the term from someone in CUS.
