True but it just ended and it will be hard for them to catch up when we have a couple of months left before the season finales. If you think about it, most shows tape a couple of months before the season begins so if they write now, then they will be just in time to tape the season finale.

Technically, The Cosby Show was on longer than Family Matters if we look at continuity. Family Matters was cancelled when it was on ABC, but was later picked up by CBS. The Cosby Show had a straight run.

This may be/probably is true. But the cost of restarting the unit would be so high that the CW decided to cut its losses for a show it was probably going to cancel anyway.

Personally, I'm really outraged. Sure, the show had gone downhill but I still think it's better/more intelligent than most of the sitcoms on TV. I've actually only gotten into the show recently--my boyfriend started watching it in syndication and then we bought the first season on DVD (they're up to season 3 now).

There is talk that they will have a season finale that's a "clip" show with famous moments. And with some narration and reflection by the actors and producers on the show. To me, it's just not the same. These characters deserve closure. Especially the Joan/Aaron plotline!!!!

It ticks me off a lot. To take one example, Gilmore Girls was cruddy in its last season--more cruddy IMO than Girlfriends has ever been. Now, granted, I don't know the relative ratings, but imagine the outrage if GG hadn't gotten a finale. I honestly find the CW's treatment of the former UPN shows (and not just the African American ones--Veronica Mars too, for example) to be a load of crap.

If the CW decides not to air the episodes, they may decide to send them straight to DVD. The last episodes of Scrubs were scheduled to go straight to DVD, but then there was dialogue of another network trying to pick up the show. All of these details are sketchy, but I hope the matters are resolved for both shows.

I sure hope you are correct, AKA2D '91, about the episodes winding up on DVD. It's absolutely ridiculous the way they cut the show so abruptly.

It's bad enough they canceled the show without a final episode...
