"Pinning of the Petals"?

Delta Alpha chapter posted its first newsletter (on FB). There's a reference to "pinning of the petals." One of the chapter members said it's "a pre-initiation ceremony."

That's a new one for me -- I'm curious. Do other chapters do this? Do they use real petals? Silk petals? Pinned to the initiates or to a banner or something? What do the members say as they pin?

Could it be like a ribboning ceremony?

yes, other chapters do this.

Not sure where or if it falls in ritual, so I'm hesitant to post more than this.

Thanks, everyone -- especially BenzGirl who provided a photo.
Since the photo was in a public FB album, it's not a secret. For the purposes of this forum, though, I'll just say that it appears to be a lovely small ceremony to end pledgeship* and prepare for initiation.

*"Pledgeship" is easier to say than "the new member period."

I agree - good description.

I remember when I participated in the ceremony as a new member/pledge (this was 25+ years ago), and how it felt to be without my new member pin afterward. I do think the ceremony helped me get in the right frame of mind for initiation, which happened shortly thereafter.
