This past weekend, ZBT initiated and pinned 31 new founding fathers at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom) as the new Upsilon Kappa Delta Colony. Also, last month 24 new founding fathers were initiated and pinned as the new Beta Epsilon colony at Michigan State University.
For the Spring 2013, ZBT will begin colonization at the following schools...
University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill (current interest group in progress)
University of California- Santa Barbara (current interest group in progress)
University of Minnesota (Recolonization of Beta Iota)
ZBT:"Brotherhood and Beyond"

I understand if you are unable to discuss, but does "Upsilon Kappa" stand for "United Kingdom”? And the Manchester chapter is the forth (i.e. Delta) chapter of ZBT in the UK? Or is this naming convention used only with colonies in the UK and a different chapter name will be given at the time the colony is chartered?

TSteven, to answer your questions..
1. Yes, "Upsilon Kappa" does refer to United Kingdom. It was voted by the Grand Surpreme Council to start all colonies in the UK with "Upsilon Kappa" followed by Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc. Colonies in the USA and Canada will continue the traditional 2 Lettered -Greek designation. However, some schools where ZBT is planning to recolonize the former Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity and/ or Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity chapters will use either their original chapter name or be given a 3 Lettered-Greek designation. THat is decided by the Grand Surpreme Council & Expansion Committee when chartering applications are approved.
2. University of Manchester is the 4th colony that ZBT has established in the UK. THe plan from what I was told by the Expansion Service Team is to establish 6 colonies by 2015. Also, having an Alumni Club of Greater London does help with expansion contacts and meetings/visitations with school adminstration.

Kentucky Wesleyan
SK and KD received notice Monday that AOPi will be recolonizing their chapter at Kentucky Wesleyan College in spring 2013. The will be absorbing the local sorority (sorry, my brain's not working this morning- I know absorbing isn't the right word, but you know what I mean!) I have not looked for "official" notification, if someone else is so inclined! Welcome, AOPi!

That seems like an awful quick turn around! Hopefully it is well known on campus that SOMEONE would be colonizing so girls will have been thinking about it. But I'm sure our expansion team is ready to hit the ground running. Go Bucknell! Go A Xi D!

Interesting news from Bucknell. This makes two straight new colonizations rather than recolonizations. I mean no disrespect to AXiD or ADPi, of course.

Well as you know people have loooooooong memories up here (in a different way than in the South). It's possible they don't want to deal with alumnae. The old GL director at my alma mater was trying that with fraternities (Sigma Nu what? why? [no offense to Sigma Nu]) and pretty much got shot down when the alumni of the multiple closed fraternities heard about it.
Also, looking at the closed chapters there, many of those groups have bigger things on bigger plates.
