The AOII house at Ole Miss use to look awful before they redid the front in the 1980s. It was like this big square box they built in 1958. Older alumnae use to call it the taco hut.
|
Bama Pi Phi's old house, also built some time in the '60s, reminded me of a Burger King.

Ok so you're gonna want to upload that. You can't link to a file on your computer.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon Builds New House at Kettering in Flint, Michigan -- $1.25 Million
Article and a little "video clip" are on a station's site:
http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?se...cal&id=7559438
Excerpts from article:
FLINT (WJRT) -- (07/16/10)--In about 10 weeks, members of a college fraternity in Flint will get the keys to a new house.
The construction project near Kettering University could help stabilize a neighborhood that's been in decline.
Four city lots that held vacant buildings had to be cleared to build a new 11,000-square-foot house for . . . the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
. . . "We're hoping to establish this area as more of a residential area for our students," said Robert Marias, Greek Life and Community Service director.
Thirty to 35 fraternity members will live in the house on University Avenue, about two blocks from Kettering.
The current frat house located on Beecher Road has been purchased . . . and will eventually be demolished.
One nice feature of the new house is this 40-foot-long balcony on the second floor. . . .
There's an apartment on the first floor for the house mother. On the third floor is a large meeting room. . . .
The $1.25 million project should be completed around Oct. 1.

Yes, I'm bring up an old post, but I just came across it and wondered if there's a little confusion. Our Iota chapter's website (and the NU website) indicates that Phi Mu Alpha is still in the house at 626 Emerson:
Meanwhile, the website for the Alpha Phi chapter of Zeta says they are at 710 Emerson.
Just had to ask -- we don't have many houses, so I hate to see a chapter lose one.
ETA: I did a little digging of Northwestern news sources and it appears that Iota lost exclusive use of the house for a while but then got it back. It also appears that they have joined Northwestern's IFC.

South Dakota State Alpha Xi Delta Location
Wow. South Dakota State U reportedly has plans for the location owned by Alpha Xi Delta, see:
Excerpt (bold face emphasis added):
Phase II of ECS building
According to documents from the Board of Regents website, the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) building addition will cost an estimated $4.85 million. Of that, $4.4 million comes from an out-of-state private donor through the SDSU Foundation, and the remaining $450,000 is indirect/plant and royalty funds from research.
The . . . addition will be to the west of the existing ECS building, which is located northwest of the intersection of 13th Avenue and Eighth Street in Brookings. Phase II of ECS construction is meant to replace space in nearby Harding Hall.
The South Dakota Legislature already approved the building of the facility in its 2010 session. If approved by the regents, construction could begin in September 2010, and the project could be completed by the winter of 2011, regent documents say.
Moving forward with the addition is contingent upon the university’s ability to obtain land through condemnation procedures. The property, owned and occupied by the SDSU chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, is located west of the existing ECS building at 1203 Eighth St. . . .
