I had a blessed Christmas (I always do). We decided to have Christmas in Chicago at my sister's this year. She lives outside Chicago in Waukegan, so I'm only about 4-5 hours from her place. I drove out, and stayed only one day, because I have a lot of things to take care of at work tomorrow (even though I'm on vacation).

My sister tried to talk me into staying until tomorrow, because of the weather. I told her I couldn't. Now, I wish I would have listened to her. I left her place at about 11:30am (Michigan time), and I am just now coming to within about 50 miles from my house. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to pull over and stay in a hotel. These jokers were just driving way too fast, and coming too close to me. I couldn't even see the white lines on the freeway (and they couldn't either), cars and trucks flipped over, and yet, people still were doing at least 50mph or more in this mess.

I was born and raised in St. Paul, MN, so if I have sense enough to know that you cannot drive over 30mph in this mess, then I would think they would have that kind of sense, too. But then again, this is Michigan, and folks here can't drive worth a damn on drive pavement, so I understand. -Idiots.

Done venting:

Anyway, I was happy to see both my nephews, my brother, my sister-in-law, my sister, and my parents. I have a great family, and I thank God for blessing me with them.

My understanding of intinction is that the priest takes the communion wafer, dips it in the communion wine, and then places it on the recipient's tongue. It's rare in Catholicism, but I have received Communion this way. The priest says, "The body and blood of Christ," the recipient says "Amen" and opens his/her mouth, and the priest dips the wafer in the wine and places it on the recipient's tongue.

I never was a big fan of taking Communion by mouth. I did do it for a few months when I was a teenager - I'd injured my hand and couldn't take Communion by hand in the proper manner - but it felt strange to me.

I have to work in the morning. I'll probably work from home given the horrible weather conditions. My house guests want to leave at day break to head home. However, one of them has not yet gone to bed. It's almost 2 am. She is now in the other room and she is going through songs or something on her IPad. I am so ready for bed. Why is she still up?

I hate winter (snow) driving. Going to Lowes/Home Depot this weekend for a snow blower.

I'm dreaming of a good snowblower,
Just like the ones I used to know.

Thankfully, I still have a teenage son. Between the two of us, we have kept up pretty well.

I went to the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl last night. The drive there was terrible. It wasn't as bad on the way home, thank goodness. It was a really good game! Although I went with WKU fans, and Central Michigan was my alma mater's biggest rival, I found myself wanting CMU to win Shhhh, don't tell my friends who came up for the game and bought my ticket that I was rooting for the other side!

What I feel like saying now: My mom and I are making the long drive to MoA (Mall of America) today. I feel like I haven't been there in like, forever.

LOL. And I'm still a little hot around the collar from that mess, too.

And you do know what I've got planned for the rest of my evening, right?

Sounds like my aunt and uncle when my cousin went off to law school in Chicago. The financial practicality of it finally got them to accept it. After 4 years of dating, she should not be surprised...good luck!

I'm having a hard time understanding how someone can be so arrogant and insecure at the same time. Like, I get it....but it's mind-boggling.
