The hands and feet pictures are fairly common for people who have a stillbirth or late miscarrage.

They have every right to mourn Jubilee; however I do think they need to consider if this was maybe a sign from God to stop having kids.

If everything had gone smoothly, and Jubilee had been born without any complications at all, would you say that it was a sign from God that the Duggars should keep having kids?

I know it's fairly common; it's not common to post it to the world via one's Twitter feed.

I have a good hs friend that had a "foot picture" as her facebook profile picture for a long time. I'm sure most casual friends didn't know exactly what it was, though.

Any thoughts on them releasing pictures of Jubilee at the memorial service?

My thought - It's like an open casket funeral. While I don't like it, if it brings the family peace then it's all good.

It seems that the photos, from what I've heard, were done tastefully. My problem with it is that one of the kids (not Jim-Bob or Michelle) felt the need to post them on Twitter. It was a private matter and not something to be broadcast to millions. I guess this is to be expected from the family who announces their pregnancies on the Today Show...

There are many non-famous/pseudo-famous people who broadcast private matters and photos over Twitter. Announcing pregnancies on TV is not necessarily a pre-cursor to oversharing.

I think he (and certain people in general) find that sharing the more intimate parts of their grief process with the internet help them cope. I think if that was something that helped with his healing then okay. But I also think I feel that way partially because I'm not on Twitter and didn't have to see it.

...just because people do it doesn't make it okay or acceptable. Not every stage of life has to be shared with the public. At this point, I see them as the fundie Kardashians.

I just felt it was a deeply private item that should not have been broadcast to an unconsenting audience. As someone who's always liked and tolerated the Duggars, they lost a lot of points in my book. Of course, this is my opinion--I'm sure there are a lot of people who ate it up with a spoon.

JimBob's niece, Famy Duggar (oops, I mean Amy Duggar) released the photos on her Facebook and Twitter.

They supposedly wanted privacy, but had a public memorial service, gave at least three or four exclusive interviews to People Magazine, and published the recorded message to the deceased fetus/baby (I don't know what to call her) on their webpage. Interestingly, when Michele first recorded it, she said that whenever people ask how many children she has, she'll say 20 - 19 here and one in heaven. People started asking questions about the first baby she miscarried right after Josh, and today the recording was changed to "whenever people ask how many kids I have, I'll say 21, 19 here and 2 in heaven."

The oldest son, Josh, also posted an Instagram photo of the parents seated at the gravesite ceremony with the caption:

"Just buried my lil sis! She was only 19 weeks old...Not an easy one! God is good!"

I didn't put in the exclamation points.

I didn't mean to imply that it was or was not. I agree with you on what's in bold. I was just saying that fame by itself is not likely the cause of those pictures going up because so many (over)share private matters in the same way.

ETA: What is an Instagram?
