The 13th president of THE Ohio State University from 2002 - 2007 was a Gamma Phi Beta (Dr Karen Holbrook) and she was actually the first woman president of OSU! A cute headline appeared in her college alumni magazine when she took office: "From Badger to Buckeye" (she earned her undergrad degree from Univ Wisconsin Madison).

While this is interesting to note, I wouldn't mention Holbrook around many OSU people. She was not very well liked....

The Phi Mu Delta has announced that the colony at the University of Alabama has voted to close.

Considering that there were 5 sororities (AGD, KD, XO, Phi Mu, DDD) starting in 1971 until AXiD started in 1989, the primary reason that there were no more sororities is probably due to the fact that they wouldn't be able to live in Boykin Hall (sorority dorm).
Now that there is a current Greek Village (and a new one on the 7-year plan), that gives more opportunity for new sororities....and fraternities. (The current GV would probably be turned over for non-Greek students.)

How funny that these exact three groups are presenting at Oklahoma City University too!

Phi Mu and Kappa both presented. I deduce that Gamma Epsilon is a local. Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Epsilon and Gamma Phi Beta are listed as members of the panhellenic association. Per the Kappa Facebook page:

We’re excited to announce that Kappa has been chosen to colonize at Wichita State University in fall 2013. We’ll be working closely with the Women's Panhellenic Association - Wichita State and Wichita State University Gamma Epsilon on our colonization efforts, so stay tuned for details!

Judging from Gamma Epsilon's facebook page, it looks like Kappa is absorbing the local. Is that correct, Kappas?

From what I can gather, it appears that way, but I have no official info.

Appears that way to me, too. It looks like two of the founders are Chi Omegas from different chapters who came to Wichita State and missed chapter life. I guess they won't be offered the chance to be initiated like other Gamma Epsilon alumnae since they are already initiated members of Chi O. That's kind of sad.

This website says that all members of the local will have the chance to become members of the national group. I'm curious how this will work.... It sounds like every member except the 2 founders will have this opportunity? Sad that the two founders won't be able to remain sisters with their current sisters? Will the rule be bent to allow them to affiliate?

Given the dates that the founders transferred to the school on their website, I would guess that these women have graduated by now.

Their website under the "sisters" part, says that one is current president, the other is the chapter adviser.
