Husband and I bought our house in january...and we got our dog two days before the closing. Buying a house was mainly motivated by my THREE YEARS worth of pestering to get a dog, which we couldn't do in our apartment.

So meet Walter, our black lab, giant schnauzer mix. He's 65 lbs of fuzzy, not-so-bright, adorable fury.

I think this is my favorite photo of him. Yes, my old couch was hideous. But it was free!

And he doesn't understand the concept of his tie-out. He just goes out there and sits. And guards my quilt while it's drying in the sun.

Would you say that your bird is affectionate? Or is it more like a random bird in a cage who doesn't care about people so much?

I want a pet that's going to be interested in hanging out with me, but not on the level as say, a cat or dog.
Parrots (I believe the Sun Conue is in the parrot family) tend to be more acknowledging of their owners. My roommate and I had a parrot (African grey), two cockatiels (all hers) and a parakeet (mine), and the cocks and the keet didn't give a crap - ok, they gave lots if craps, just not about us. LOL. You'll want to learn how to clip their wings - it's very easy and equivalent to us cutting our hair.
