Not a question per se - but "Wow - you are in a sorority?", because apparently I don't fit their preconceived notions of what a sorority girl should be.

I almost misread your post -- but it leads into another one for me:

While I'm wearing Greek letters:

"Are you in a fraternity?"

Isn't it a moot question?

People who have no clue, have not clue!

So when they look at you in what are you so talking about?

God, why do then not learn by looking?

You know what Tom.... this makes perfect sense.

No matter how much you explain, people will either be MORE confused or get disinterested.

Or just still don't get it -- case in point, there is a guy I know with no formal education who calls me an AKA every time I see him.

LOL.... and the last part of what he said about "learning by looking" -- sometimes it's more enriching to learn by observing on your own. Especially if it's a non-essential kind of question.

"I never pictured YOU in a Sorority".
That is not a question, but that statement annoys me more than anything.

I remember one time on here a rushee (who had signed up with the name of the sorority she was hoping to join, another EEEEEEEK in itself) said "if I do all this will I get recruited?" Hence why I don't like the new terms - they sound really really stupid when you use them out of context. When you mix up "rush" and "bid" it just doesn't sound as lame somehow.

It's not a question so much, but I get awfully tired of hearing adult people, the parents of kids who might rush, saying "I wasn't Greek: I never had to buy my friends."

At what stage of life would that really have passed for wit or insight, I'm not sure, but saying it when you are in your 40s just makes you seem extra-socially retarded or immature.

It just hints at that they are still on some level insecure and resentful about a decision made more than 20 years ago, and it's just such a stupid idea on the face of it. Is there a college anywhere where it's the Greek kids who particularly lack social skills or friends outside their GLOs?
It wasn't the way it was on any campus I've ever been to.

Common Question:
"You mean even though you graduated 3 years ago you still associate with your Fraternity? Don't you get kicked out when you graduate?"

My Response:
"You mean even though you turned 18 ten years ago you still associate with your family? Don't you get kicked out when you turn 18?"

Their response:
"That's different it's family."

My Response:
"So is my Fraternty!"
