Post Skee-Phi & Skee-Ooop

I was wondering how do you ladies feel about adding other organizations calls to ours. I noticed that some people get so offended.

I've done it with one of my best friends from college who is a Delta and she did the same. However, it was never done in the presence of a lot of people.

I will greet one of my closest friends and anyother Delta that I am cool with, with a Skee-Oop on campus at anytime.

I don't see anything wrong with showing greek unity.

I've also done it with one of my Delta friends in college and with my frats. I don't have a problem with it.

Skeee-yiiip! to the lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha. I am a graduate member of Sigma Gamma Rho and one of my fondest memories of my undergraduate days is the friendships that I had with the ladies of AKA. I have always had much respect for AKA. I am all about unity among all of us.

Skee-wee Sorors and a hug to all others:
My best friend is a delta and when we first pledged we tried out the Skee-oop and oop-skee thing. But we both agree that neither of us know what the others call means and represents. So therefore we do not do it anymore. I think that you should consider that fact before you attach someone else's call to your own.

One of the reasons my Delta friend and I began doing that particular call is because when I looked through one of my undergrad chapter's scrapbooks, the AKAs and the Deltas held a "Skee-Oop" party. I told her about it and we thought that showed a lot of unity between the two organizations on our campus at that time. If there wasn't a problem with them posting it for everyone to see, then I felt it was accepted.

However, if sorors do not feel it is appropriate to do a "Skee-Oop" or "Oop-Skee" call, then they should also refrain from "Skee-Phi" and "Phi-Skee", etc. because we don't know the meaning behind those calls as well. I personally think it is ok, and simply showing some greek unity or greek love for one another. Why make something with simple intentions so technical and divisive?

I agree with soror AKAtude. On our campus, we had quite a few "Skee-yo" and "Yo-Skee" parties.
