Non-traditional HELP!

I've registered to rush in the fall at USM as a sophomore. I have my GED though, is that going to affect my chances?

You want an honest answer? It may depend on why you dropped out of high school.

Once you're a sophomore, I don't think the majority of chapters are going to care what you did in HS. What have you been involved in in COLLEGE?

Also, a 3.1 is not particularly impressive. It's not terrible, but it doesn't look great up against freshmen coming in with 4.0s from HS.

Then as long as it's not anything "scandalous", it may not hurt you. I wouldn't being it up if they don't, though, because someone may assume it was due to something you did.

This. Don't bring it up, but if it does come up (and I'd be surprised if it didn't), be forthcoming with it. If there was a legitimate reason for getting your GED and not your high school diploma (health problem or something), you can probably spin it into something positive about your work ethic. If it was something more sinister (got into a fight and got yourself expelled, who knows)... you might be out of luck.

If it was because you were home schooled or lived in Africa while in high school by all means - tell people that!
