I didn't know whether to put this in fundraising, risk mgmt or social so I sais the heck w/ it and put it here.
I was reading on a fraternity's message board a desperate plea to their alums for money because they got locked into a three year composite contract. This happened to my chapter too - we were forced to purchase the large composite (with overly ornate frame) and a minimum of 50 composites, which runs into hundreds of $$$$, which since our chapter was in a membership lull we did not have at the time.
Just a word to the wise, especially for those of you who have smaller chapters. Go over the contract or ANYTHING you sign with a fine tooth comb and don't let yourself get screwed. If you have questions ask your advisor or another professor (preferably one w/ legal or contract experience) to look it over for you. If the company pressures you to sign without examining things thoroughly, tell them to take a walk.
