URI

When I was a national volunteer on that campus about 5 years ago, there were about 800 PNMS and 10 houses. I would suggest you look into COB opportunities as now that total is set to median chapter size, that means that at least 5 chapters should have COB opportunities... Best of luck!

I, too, am sorry that your recruitment didn't turn out like you had hoped. If you are still interested, sigmagirl2000 mentioned "COB". Continuous Open Bidding is when sororities which still have some open spots hold "get to know you" events and potentially offer additional bids later in the semester or in the spring. Check with your Greek Life Office to see if any sororities will be participating in that. Also, I believe that Alpha Chi Omega will be re-establishing their chapter at URI in Fall 2020. That would offer an additional opportunity to join. Best wishes to you.

I believe they're supposed to be moving in the year after they return to campus. Not sure where Phi Sigma Sigma is going to go-maybe the TKE/APhi house?

OP, I was a sorority house director and chapter advisor at URI last year for two different sororities. I'm sorry your recruitment experience had to end early, but I cannot stress enough that there will be absolutely be COB opportunities in the spring and fall at URI if you're still interested in joining. Keep an eye open for sororities advertising open house events and if you're friends with any sorority members mention to them that you're interested in sorority membership. Best of luck and Rhody Rhody Rhody!

I'm not sure about the physical house. Sorry about that - I only saw the re-charting mentioned on the URI Greek Life website and was sharing that out. I'm from the west coast.

I believe some of their campus leadership confirmed Phi Sig already committed to the TKE/Aphi house for the fall 2020. Not sure what ACO will be doing for the year. It would be unusual to try to move a new chapter into the house in spring 2021, but they’d also lose out in the income for the year.

Once things are going better in your personal life, you can always try COB. I do hope that you left notice that you had a family emergency, but if you didn't, please do so as quickly as time allows. You don't want to be "that PNM who disappeared".

And I do hope things straighten out quickly! There are GC members who went to URI.
