KD Bunch

Here is a song that we used during our fall parties. It is to the tune of the Brady Bunch Song.

Here's the story of some lovely ladies
Who were wondering which sorority was the best.
All of them went to fall parties for the answer
One stood above the rest.

Then there's the story of a group named KD
Who were busy with recruitment of their own.
They were sisters having fun together
But they were all alone.

Until one day when these ladies met these KDs
And they knew that it was much more than a hunch
That this group must somehow form a family
That's the way we all became the KD bunch
The KD bunch (dun dun dun dun da), The KD bunch (dun dun dun dun da)
That's the way we became the KD bunch.

so at our retreat during pledging we were given a few minutes to take a popular song and turn it into a kd one. we came up with this to the tune of "pour some sugar on me"

every lady wants to be a k d cause we are the best so-ror-a-tee
from our shamrocks to our scouts, we love helpin out
sisterhood is what it's all a-bout

K D
(beat)
K D

every lady wants to be a k d cause we are the best so-ror-a-tee
from our shamrocks to our scouts, we love helpin out
sisterhood is what it's all a-bout

meet a k d
take her ooooouut
she'll show you
what fun's aboooout!
i love bein a k d
with the green and white
i love bein a k d
girl scouts are tight!
i love bein a k d
we're hot tonight!

Dagger Man Songs

We have some...comical...dagger man songs

I want to make violent love to you!
I want to date every night boom boom
And kiss in the pale moon light boom boom
I want to make violent love to you!

I don't want to make you frantic
And I don't want to cramp your style
But in a panic, you're driving me WILD

I want to make woop-t-doo with you
And have a little boy like you boom boom
I want to make violent love to you
Yeah!

And then:
So, you waltz him in the corner
And squeeze him tight like this
You put your arms around his neck
And on his lips you kiss (if he lets you)

And if he starts to murmur
And if he starts to melt
Just tell him that's a good 'ol sign that you're a Kappa Delt!

So, I waltzed him in the corner
And squeezed him tight like this
I put my arms around his neck
And on his lips I kissed ('cause he let me)

He didn't start to murmur
But golly did he melt
And now we have a legacy for dear old Kappa Delt!

I just love those

My favorite is this one we learned during recruitment:

K-a-p-p-a-Kappa-k-a-p-p-a (uh huh)
D-e-l-t-a-Delta-d-e-l-t-a
We are the Kappa Deltas,
We are the ones for you (whoo)
We are the Kappa Delta's
Don't you wanna be a Kaydee too!
Don't you wanna be a Kaydee too!

Our recruitment CAB used to do the parts in parenthesis in a high pitched cheer as soon as we finished. The beat is to clapping with the each letter of the K-a-p-p-a- having the same beat as the whole words of "Kappa" in the beginning.

It's so hard to learn them just from words.

We always do this one during recruitment, but instead of "We are the Kappa Deltas," we sing "We love Kappa Delta."

We did that one, too. We said, "We are the KD Ladies," instead of what you and nturner used. It was always one of my favorites.

Do you know the song that goes to the tune of "edelweiss" from the sound of music? I remember it says somewhere in it "every morning we greet you" but I cannot for the life of me remember what we sang instead of "edelwiess, edelweiss," and then it said something like you'll be happy to see me.

Friendships Dear. Can be found on page 13 of the KD Songbook in the File Cabinet on the KD Website.

I know I'm not a Kappa Delta, but I have to mention this. When I was growing up, I went away to a sleep away camp every summer. Each year, kids were divided up into groups that did sessions together during the day. There was always a theme, and the group names depended on the theme. One year, College Life was the theme, and the groups were named after GLOs, and one group was named Kappa Delta. One of the counselors was a KD apparently, and she taught the kids some sweet cheers. Their group won just about every evening contest, and the main cheer was:
K-K-Kappa!
D-D-Delta!
K-Kappa,
D-Delta,
Go KD!
Twenty years later, that chant still sits in my head! (I was in the Sigma Nu group... our cheers were horrible! lol)

We have a few that we do that are fun

The first one goes to the beat of the "I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N" if you know that (if not it doesn't really matter, lol):

I am a K!
I am a K!
I am a K-A-P-P-A D-E-L-T-A
And I have K-A-P-P-A D-E-L-T-A in my heart and I will L-O-V-E K-D F-O-R-E-V-E-R!

K-A-P-P-A Kappa K-A-P-P-A, WHAT?
D-E-L-T-A Delta D-E-L-T-A, WHAT WHAT?
We are the Kappa Deltas, we are the one's for you, WHOO!
We are the Kappa Deltas don't you wanna be a KD too, don't you wanna be a KD too!

We have a toast at our chapter that goes:

Let's make a toast, to the Kappa Delts
the greatest girls we know.
The fact is notorious, we're perfectly glorious
and that's why we love them so (LOVE THEM SO).
And when I die, if I get the chance, to choose between heaven and hell
I'll say "Lord help me, I wanna be, down with the Kappa Delts!"
